LayerZero

LayerZero is messaging infrastructure rather than an application. It lets a contract on one chain send a message to a contract on another, and applications built on top use that to move tokens, sync state or trigger actions across chains. The protocol itself takes no custody of what passes through.

The value counted on Base is what sits in LayerZero's contracts there, which is a function of how much bridging traffic uses it rather than of anyone choosing to deposit. LayerZero connects more than ninety chains, so Base is one endpoint among many. Stargate, which appears separately in this directory, is the best known bridge built on it.
