Yearn is the protocol that made yield aggregation a category. A depositor puts assets into a vault, the vault runs a strategy, and returns are compounded without the user managing anything. Its Base presence is curation rather than the classic vaults: DefiLlama files it under risk curators here, meaning Yearn is directing capital into other protocols' lending markets. Yearn has been running since 2020, which makes it one of the oldest protocols still operating in this directory, and its strategy code has been copied across most of DeFi. It curates on seven chains.
